Brand activation for Fentimans drinks.
As a brand activation agency we get some awesome briefs. Not least this unique opportunity for the Fentimans drinks range. Working with the brand’s PR agency concept of a street-based installation we designed and built this ‘mock’ vending machine you see pictured here.
For this particular brand the concept was simple. But the build wasn’t. The concept was a mock vending machine. The machine would dispense a free sample bottle once participants had watched the animation on the integrated video screen. With this in mind we had to figure out a mechanism which would store and dispense bottles on demand. So we had to:
We researched, booked and managed city centre event sites in Newcastle, London and Manchester. Targeting shoppers in proximity to retailers was the strategy. Setting up the vending machine in the early hours in each city, the unit was powered by an IP rated high capacity battery. Using clean, renewable energy enabled us to adhere to the environmental principles of the brand and event spaces requirements. As a custom design and build, the vending machine was designed in sections. To allow easy transportation various interlocking parts were created to enable a quick and easy installation and derig.
By creating an eye-catching, intriguing and unique branded ‘thing’, encouraging shoppers to engage was straightforward. The vending machine was oversized and heavily branded with Fentimans motifs. It also featured a colour-changing RGB LED product display window where shoppers could see the entire product range. By using gold VIP ropes, it also created an atmosphere of exclusivity. While the free product samples were available to everyone, it certainly didn’t hurt to have a queue!
